Septic System Pumps
Uphill pumping a septic tank system?

We renew our covered in the same plane contained grandmother in a property with the water tank and a septic system. The problem is that the spacecraft is below the existing septic system so the effluent can not be fed by gravity. Does anyone know whether there may be a simple solution to this dilemma? Can we pump greywater, effluent and simply raising the existing tank: Just to reiterate the existing house is uphill from the septic system and we are looking to install a toilet, shower and sink in the shed downhill from the septic system. Your help and comments are greatly appreciated! Regards, A

You may be cheaper to get a composting toilet to take care of black waste water. Then just discharge dirty water into the ground if local code permits. Composting toilets Google to see what's available in your area. Some of propane used to convert toilet waste ash.

Our house is 8 years old. We have a septic system. Every year when the weather gets colder (30 to 40 degrees F) we have a sewer smell in the house when we use the dishwasher, washing machine or take a shower. As long as the temperature is above 50 there is no smell. We have a bathroom in the basement, 2 and 1/2 baths on the 1st floor and a bath on the 2nd floor that is not used very often. We have the septic tank pumped out each year. Any ideas or suggestions?

Check to see if your house has a floor drain in the basement. If there is pour a quart of water down it and see if that gets rid of the odor. If it does pour a little water down that drain at least once a month to maintain the water level in the drain trap.
