Septic System Leach Bed

How often do I have to have my septic system drain?
We have well water and septic system leaching bed, I guess say. There have been about 7 people on average nine months and four people on average for 4 months total time. I've been told you need to do each year and also I have said should be done every two years. I have no idea what is right and I do not know the hard way!
Acermill right, with the greatest number of people using the system, you would like to have done on an annual basis. Be sure to keep the addition of bacteria in the system, to keep it functioning properly. Rid-x is good, or baking flush the toilet. You can not hurt, so the addition of bacteria on a monthly basis, especially when using cleaning chemicals. They kill bacteria, and the system will not work. Good luck!

Is it normal for a septic system leaching bed to be soaked in spring?
I know his would be a bad sign in the summer, but all the snow melted only about 2-3 weeks was a year ago, heavy snow. The rest of the yard is not fluffy. Is this a problem or leaching bed take longer to 'dry' in the spring? We know the system is cleaned out about a year and a half ago by the previous owners. The system is less than 10 years old. No backup at home. It is a country house throughout the year so that the use is not like a house – weekends only during winter months.
Well, I've never lived in snow country so this is something I'm not sure. But I think it is possible to take a while to dry. The reason is your drainfield is covered with something to keep the dirt. Many cases involve a plastic sheet. Back in the woods we use tar paper or shingles. Then their land and turf is placed on top of that. So it is possible that retains water and the sun to evaporate. Now may be the way off base, but that's the first thing that appears in my mind. As long as your system is being washed and drained, I think we are well
