A report by the Drinking Water System: Facts Revealed disturbing
Talk about an eye opener! I recently read a real drinking water system report, prepared by the company that supplies water to my mother's suburban community. I have to admit I was worried about what I read. These evaluations study water of what is in our drinking water. Measure and report the presence and concentration of pollutants and where specific pollutant source.
The irony of fear was that this document was subtitled, "2007 Report of Consumer Confidence."
And what is in our drinking water … according to this report?
This potable water system reported that the following contaminants may be present in water:
"Microbial contaminants, as viruses and bacteria that may come from plants, sewage treatment, septic systems, agricultural livestock operations and wildlife "
"Inorganic contaminants such as salts and metals, which can be naturally occurring or result from urban stormwater runoff, industrial or domestic wastewater discharges, oil production and gas, mining, or agriculture "
"Pesticides and herbicides, which may come from a variety of sources such as agriculture, runoff urban stormwater and residential demand.
"Organic Chemicals contaminants, including synthetic and volatile organic chemicals (VOCs) that are byproducts of industrial processes and petroleum production and can also come from gas stations, urban stormwater runoff and septic systems "
"Radioactive contaminants, which can be naturally occurring or be the result of oil and gas production and mining activities"
Despite this information, the general conclusion of this report water system was that my mom's water is safe. This was based on the standards set by EPA and the State in accordance with the Safe Drinking Act.
However, this report includes a warning that some people may be more vulnerable than the population general what is in our drinking water. People who receive chemotherapy, persons who have undergone organ transplants, people with HIV / AIDS, the elderly and babies might be at risk from drinking this water. This report advises these people to consult their health care providers about drinking water.
I do not know about you, but I imagine that this information does not inspire much "consumer confidence" in the town exploded in the drinking water system. It is difficult to imagine the these contaminants ANY level would make people confident in your drinking water tap.
So is there an alternative to this questionable "water drinking can inspire "consumer confidence?" Of course! There are several alternatives, in fact.
A wide range of products and services can meet the needs of you and your family. But you should make some comparisons. Not all water filtration systems are created equal. If you are unsure how to start, right away you can narrow your search by product search systems based on multi-stage filtration. These are the best filters to effectively remove chlorine, lead and volatile organic compounds.
If you take a little time to do some simple research, you'll find, like me, that drinking water filters are a safe, convenient and inexpensive way to greatly improve its water system.
So instead of relying on an annual to answer the question, "what is in our drinking water?" that trust can have a drink and know what not in the water.
